Jaeylon Rashaad Johnson, a 21-year-old Rochester native has answered his personal call to activism by becoming a main leading figure of the Black Live Movement in Rochester, NY. He can be seen in the front leading marches, speeches, and planning protests. He has been in and out of juvenile detention since he was 13 and explained, “I have friends that aren’t coming at home, I have friends that literally are locked up for life because they've been blamed for things they didn't do. They've been beaten up brutally beat up, don't look the same no more, killed. I'm never gonna be able to see them again, so me doing this work is gonna help it's gonna change everything, And I'm just glad that I'm on the right side of this work on the right side of history right now.”
